Lena Mahmoud is the author of Amreekiya, published by the University Press of Kentucky and a finalist for the Louise Meriwether First Book Prize. Library Journal described the novel as “relevant for people worldwide,” and it was named one of Foreword‘s “Four Phenomenal Debut Novels” in 2018. Lena has also received two Pushcart nominations: one for an excerpt of Amreekiya, published as “Al Walad” in KNOT Literary Magazine, and for her personal essay “The Psyche of a Palestinian American Writer,” published in Fifth Wednesday Journal. Her work has also appeared or will appear in Sukoon, East Jasmine Review, and Pulp Literature.
Lena is a Central Valley native and one of the In Solidarity Workshop coordinators for the Radius of Arab-American Writers, Inc (RAWI).
